JOB TITLE
Analyst - Development and Investment

POSITION SUMMARY
The Development and Investment Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the expansion of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) platform. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive financial analysis, developing investment models, and monitoring performance across acquisition and de novo development projects. The individual in this role focuses on constructing and maintaining financial models, facilitating due diligence activities, tracking actual performance against planned benchmarks, and preparing high-quality materials for both senior leadership and joint venture partners.

By working collaboratively with the Development, Operations, and Finance teams, the Analyst is involved in all stages of transaction and development workflows. This role provides an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of ASC economics, investment returns, and strategic growth initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Financial Modeling & Investment Support
Build and maintain detailed financial models and pro formas for ASC acquisitions, joint ventures, and new developments, which include sources and uses of funds, working capital needs, and cash flow projections.
Support business valuation efforts and perform investment return calculations such as IRR, MOIC, payback period, EBITDA margin at steady state, sensitivity analysis, and cash-on-cash returns, under the supervision of Development leadership.
Update financial models to incorporate findings from due diligence, revised assumptions, and scenario analysis.
De Novo and Performance-to-Plan Analysis
Prepare feasibility analyses for new developments, including evaluation of project costs, staffing assumptions, volume ramp-up projections, and payer mix considerations.
Monitor actual performance compared to underwriting assumptions after project close or opening, focusing on metrics such as volume, revenue, and EBITDA trends.
Conduct variance analyses and summarize key insights to support management review and guide operational follow-up actions.
M&A Due Diligence Support and Analysis
Assist in due diligence activities by collecting, organizing, and analyzing financial, operational, and market data related to acquisition targets.
Support the review of historical financial statements, physician alignment information, case mix, and payer data.
Document due diligence findings and associated risks for inclusion in internal review materials.
Presentations & Executive Materials
Prepare investment memoranda, approval requests, and presentation materials for senior leadership, prospective investors, and joint venture partners.
Create clear and effective tables, charts, and exhibits to present financial analysis in executive-ready formats.
Strategic & Ad Hoc Analysis
Provide ad hoc analytical support for development pipeline tracking and assessments of new market opportunities.
Assist in maintaining reports and dashboards for the development pipeline, as well as responding to internal data requests.
Collaborate with Development and Operations teams to ensure seamless execution of projects.
Perform other duties as assigned, consistently adhering to established policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and professional standards, while demonstrating organizational values and a high level of professionalism.

The Development and Investment Analyst reports directly to the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY
The Analyst supports multiple ongoing acquisition and de novo development initiatives in a fast-paced environment. The work is highly analytical, requiring meticulous attention to detail, strong financial skills, and the ability to follow established procedures while learning about ASC-specific investment frameworks. The role provides exposure to senior leadership and complex investment decisions, with guidance and oversight from Development leadership.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

OE - Typical Office Environment:
Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking.
May be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
Requires significant use of personal computer, phone, and general office equipment.
Needs adequate visual acuity, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
Occasional travel may be necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Two to three years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, private equity, or other transaction-focused roles.
Strong proficiency in Excel and a solid foundation in financial modeling.
Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in healthcare or with ASC-related projects.
Exposure to M&A or new development modeling.
Experience preparing materials for executive or board-level audiences.
