Starting salary: £32,255
Contract type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh, Stirling or other agreed location in Scotland (with hybrid working)
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week
Interviews: To be held on Week Commencing 2nd March 2026

As Analytics and Reporting Officer at Historic Environment Scotland, you'll ensure the regular sorting and organisation of data and information to provide regular information to departments. You will also be involved in analysis and reporting of projects, management information and corporate reports.

Key Responsibilities of this role

Teamwork/Management:

Provide support to the Policy, Strategy and Systems Team as and when required to meet wider team objectives related to business requirements.

Provide on-going support to the Analytics Manager with conservation reporting as required under Scheme of Delegation, including collation, analysis and presentation of various types of data and information.

Data Handling and Analysis:

Develop procedures relating to data acquisition and collation across the Directorate and provide associated staff training where required.

Develop and implement systems specifically for the tracking of compliance activity across the HES estate and use these to report on associated activity and performance.

Collate and analyse data from across the organisation for reporting in the Annual Properties in Care report.

Carry out regular audit to ensure data is current and accurate.

Reporting:

Produce quarterly directorate reports by drawing on data produced by teams across the Directorate.

Produce other scheduled reports to regularly update on a range of activities such as estate monitoring.

Analyse and present Cultural Assets Directorate data for a variety of audiences including the Executive Leadership Team and the HES Board to report on progress against targets and to inform decisions relating to budget and resource allocations.

Provide support to the Analytics Manager in relation to ad-hoc reporting projects; this often involves working with numerous staff and reporting to tight deadlines.

Process and Performance Improvement:

Assist with project development work relating to Estate condition monitoring outputs, including site-based data gathering and PICAMS (Properties In Care Asset Management System).

Key requirements of the role:

Essential:

Demonstrate experience of being resourceful and proactively seeking out answers/options/solutions.

Proven ability to collate, analyse and report on data.

Demonstrate experience of delivering technical reports to a high standard of written English.

Demonstrate experience of delivering oral presentations.

Have experience of tailoring content to different audiences across a range of levels.

Experience of using Microsoft Excel skills to collate, track and analyse data.

Advanced experience in Microsoft Word.

Basic experience of using PowerBI, or similar software, to create graphic visualisation of data.
