Job Description
This is a key role sitting within the School of Life Sciences to prepare and maintain all forms of materials housed within the Anatomy Suite (including cadavers and prosected parts). The role holder is required to have detailed knowledge and experience of cadaveric embalming and dissection, to enable anatomical teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students (including surgical courses). You will require anatomy knowledge in order to be able to select prosections with relevant structures for teaching and for creating new prosections. Other specialist skills and knowledge will be also necessary for embalming and for understanding a range of complex medical conditions to determine if a bequest can be accepted. Managing the facility more widely will include approval, booking, and overseeing all work, alongside costing and administering finances for generated income and spent funds. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for this role. In addition, you need to be self-directed, accurate and organised to ensure that comprehensive records are maintained, and be able to work effectively under pressure to provide high quality technical support.
Candidates must have experience working within an Anatomy Suite (Dissecting Room). They will hold a minimum University degree, HNC or equivalent work experience in anatomy or relevant subject, or have a proven track record with extensive work experience in a relevant technical, scientific or management role.
