Baird AE is seeking an ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST to join our team FULL TIME with a minimum of 5 years of experience to support our clients’ projects in our WINDSOR, ON LOCATION.

The Architectural Technologist will play a critical role in supporting our architectural team by developing detailed design and construction drawings, coordinating technical aspects of projects, and ensuring compliance with building codes and zoning requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in architectural design, proficiency in Revit, and a demonstrated ability to produce accurate and comprehensive documentation independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Requirements

In addition to being self-motivated and driven, successful candidates will possess the following mandatory skills:
• Must hold a bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural science, or a diploma in architectural technology
• Minimum of 5 consecutive years of proficiency in REVIT
• 5-7 years of relevant experience working on and/or managing various-sized projects through all project phases
• Technical and organizational skills, including the ability to detail and coordinate a comprehensive set of Construction Documents
• A thorough knowledge of building technology, with the ability to specify and detail appropriate components and assemblies for envelope systems in cold climates
• A fundamental understanding of the Ontario Building Code and interpretation of municipal zoning by-laws
• Experience confidently interacting with clients and consultants, excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities and Duties

The Architectural Technologist is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Preparing conceptual design and presentation drawings, required for client and/or preliminary municipal approvals
• Develops architectural design packages, floor plans, elevations, and details.
• Coordinates with engineering disciplines for integrated design.
• Assists with specification writing and client presentations.
• Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, and conducts phases of architectural work on moderate-scope projects.
• Executes components of large projects or manages several small projects with complex features.
• Prepares detailed calculations, design packages, reports, and technical analyses.
• Assists in coordinating and reviewing the work of junior staff, CAD designers, and technicians.
• Interfaces with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Provides technical support during construction, commissioning, or field assignments.
• Generating and coordinating comprehensive permit/tender and construction documents, including specifications
• Working independently or as part of a team on various project types, including the supervision of junior staff
• Existing condition documentation, both in field documentation and an accurate drawing of such conditions
• Possesses some understanding and experience of Contract Administration duties, including attending on-site meetings, responding to RFI's, issuing Change Orders, reviewing shop drawings and performing Site Reviews
• Demonstrated experience working in a consulting architectural and engineering environment.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and delivering fully integrated design solutions.
• Demonstrated planning, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas and recommendations clearly to other disciplines and to non-technical team members and clients.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and related programs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage numerous issues and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• All other duties as required.

Potential candidates will be invited to an interview to review their qualifications and present a portfolio of recent projects that exemplify their contributions. Those of interest will be asked to complete a practical Revit test at our offices to confirm eligibility. We work exclusively in REVIT and expect our employees to be able to use it at a proficient level.

Salary
• CAD 60,000 - 80,000/year - Negotiable, subject to education and work experience.
