Job Description
As an Assistant Accountant in our Finance team, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our finances are accurate, transparent, and well-managed, helping us make the best use of resources to support our organisation and communities in need.
This role offers broad exposure to accounting functions — from reconciliations and income processing to travel and credit card acquittals and reporting. It’s well-suited to someone starting their accounting career, with training and guidance provided to help you grow. Alongside developing your technical skills, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation, providing financial support and building strong working relationships.

Key Responsibilities and Activities
Financial Accounting & Bookkeeping – Support month-end close, perform reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, fixed assets), and assist with quarterly BAS.
Sundry Debtors & Travel Acquittals – Track and reconcile sundry debtors, process staff repayments, and manage travel cash advance and acquittal reconciliations.
Income Processing & Business Support – Issue invoices, process supporter income accurately, and provide assistance to staff with finance queries.
Credit Card, Flexipurchase & Petty Cash – Maintain Flexipurchase system, upload and reconcile expenses, and complete monthly acquittals for credit card and petty cash.
Eway Credit Card Transactions – Process and reconcile donations, match transactions to bank records, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely monthly reporting.
Reporting – Prepare accurate financial, expense, and income reports in line with agreed timelines.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Commerce or Business Degree – may be studying towards CA or CPA
We are open to a student who is near completion of their degree or recently graduated. Some accounting experience while studying or after completion of degree would be beneficial, however full training will be provided for the role.
Demonstrated good customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Positive with a Can-do attitude.
Strong attention to detail.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
