Role and Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Closing Teacher at Primrose Schools, you will support the closing procedures of the school day while ensuring exceptional care for the children. You will work collaboratively to create a structured, engaging, and safe environment during the closing hours and assist with implementing the Balanced Learning® curriculum.
• Assist with daily closing procedures, ensuring classrooms are clean and ready for the following day.
• Supervise children during transition periods and ensure their safety until parents arrive.
• Assist in implementing the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum and engage children in educational and fun activities.
• Foster a positive, welcoming, and safe environment where children feel supported, valued, and encouraged to explore and learn.
• Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates and addressing concerns as necessary.
• Collaborate with other teachers to meet children’s educational, social, and emotional needs.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding child care, health, and safety.
• Maintain a well-kept, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Work closely with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement activities, manage classroom behavior, and monitor children’s progress.
• Assist with light housekeeping and classroom setup for the following day.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Must meet the basic requirements of local child care regulatory agencies.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in early childhood education preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with children of varying age groups and diverse backgrounds.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and assist with the care of children.
• Positive, patient, and proactive attitude with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
• Availability to work late afternoons/evenings as part of closing shift hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a child care or early childhood education setting.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and ability to engage children in educational activities.
• Passion for working with children and supporting their growth and learning.
• Ability to work well within a team and take direction from Lead Teachers and School Director.
• Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified period.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Competitive hourly wage: $13.00–$16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
