Red Cacao is an award-winning, family-owned chocolate manufacturer based in Mt Barker. Known for premium handmade chocolates and exceptional customer experiences, we are entering an exciting phase of growth and are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our operations, retail, and team performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a growing business environment and is passionate about quality, efficiency, and team development.
About the Role
As General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations across production, retail, administration, and sales. You will work closely with ownership to drive strategic growth while ensuring smooth day-to-day business performance.
This role requires strong operational capability, commercial acumen, and people leadership skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop department managers and staff
Foster a positive, high-performance workplace culture
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning
Implement clear KPIs and performance expectations
Operations Management
Oversee chocolate production, retail operations, and supply chain
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Improve systems, processes, and operational efficiencies
Manage stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships
Financial & Commercial Oversight
Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost control
Monitor financial performance and report to ownership
Drive revenue growth through wholesale, retail, and online channels
Identify new business and expansion opportunities
Customer & Brand Experience
Maintain Red Cacao’s premium brand positioning
Ensure exceptional customer experience across all touchpoints
Support marketing initiatives and product launches
About You
Proven experience in a senior management or General Manager role
Strong operational and financial management skills
Experience in food manufacturing, retail, hospitality, or FMCG (highly desirable)
Demonstrated leadership and team development capability
Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Understanding of food safety and compliance requirements (advantageous)
