We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the India Demat Team within the India International Wealth and Premier Banking team.
Job Introduction
This role will be required to support end-to-end depository participant (DP) activities within a regulated bank environment. The role involves assisting in demat account servicing, regulatory reporting, reconciliation, and operational controls in alignment with SEBI, Depository (NSDL/CDSL), and internal bank compliance frameworks.
This position offers structured exposure to capital market operations within a bank DP model, with strong emphasis on risk management, audit readiness, and regulatory adherence.
Principal Responsibilities
Support demat account opening and servicing related queries.
Verify client documentation in accordance with SEBI, Depository (NSDL/CDSL), PMLA, and internal Bank policies, when necessary.
Assist in monitoring and processing corporate Demat requests and queries.
Support provisioning of income entries and reconciliation of DP charges in coordination with Finance/Accounts.
Prepare and submit regulatory and depository reports within prescribed timelines.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of client holdings, DP balances, suspense accounts, and control accounts.
Maintain MIS reports for management review and compliance oversight.
Assist during internal audits, concurrent audits, compliance inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Ensure strict adherence to maker-checker controls, SOPs, and operational risk frameworks of the Bank.
Handle customer queries and escalations related to demat operations in coordination with branch and service teams.
Ensure compliance with all new and modified circular received from time to time.
Role Requirements / Education Qualifications / Certifications / Experience:
Graduate in Commerce, Finance, Banking, or related discipline.
Basic understanding of banking operations and capital markets ecosystem.
Mandatory: NISM Certification (Depository Operations module) OR willingness to obtain the certification within a defined probation/apprenticeship period.
Knowledge of SEBI regulations, Depository bye-laws (NSDL/CDSL), and Bank DP operating procedures will be preferred.
Working knowledge of MS Excel.
Strong process orientation with high attention to detail and compliance mindset.
Good communication skills to coordinate with branches, compliance, and customers.
Prior internship or exposure in banking operations/DP operations will be an added advantage.
Additional Information The tenure of the Apprentice will be 1 (one) year as defined under Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 amended from time to time.All Apprentices engaged by the Bank will also be featured in NATS portal as an ‘Apprentice’. By virtue of them being covered under the provisions of the Act, a candidate profile will be created for each apprentice in the NATS portal, which will be available to them for viewing.On completion of the one-year Apprenticeship tenure, a Certificate of Proficiency will be issued to the apprentice by the Govt. of India, as applicable under the Act and the enrollment under the Apprenticeship Act will cease.All other clauses regarding the tenure of engagement as an Apprentice with HSBC will stand as mentioned in the offer letter issued by the Bank at the time of joining.
