Job Description
Working within the People Strategy, Workforce Planning and Recruitment Team, the Assistant Manager, HR Policy will consult with a broad range of stakeholders across the Agency, the APS and state and territory jurisdictions to deliver policy solutions for workforce priorities. They will undertake detailed research and analysis, drawing on internal and external guidelines, legislation and best practice in the context of the broader external environment.
Our ideal candidate will possess advanced written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to engage with and influence key stakeholders to drive policy outcomes. They will be an analytical thinker, highly motivated and be able to anticipate and identify complex policy issues to drive the development of HR or workplace relations strategies and/or policies for the CDPP.
The key duties of the position include
Drive the development of strategic and contemporary HR policies;
Undertake research, analysis and reviews of complex HR policy and WR issues and legislation, identifying emerging issues;
Provide expert policy advice and recommendations on a range of complex matters, with a requirement to analyse issues and formulate responses within tight timeframes;
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Community and Public Service Union (CPSU) and agency Delegates;
Manage consultation and negotiations processes, balancing competing interests and priorities, to identify and develop solutions which support sound policy decisions and approaches;
Contribute to the preparation of reports, briefs and correspondence to inform or respond to Agency and/or Government requests; and
Provide secretariat support to the CDPP's National Consultative Committee.
