As a production merchandiser for our clothing brand, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of the production process, from sourcing materials to final product delivery. Your role will involve collaborating with designers, suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective production while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Sourcing and Procurement:
• Identify and source raw materials, fabrics, trims, and accessories required for production.
• Negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and explore new vendor options to diversify sourcing channels.
• Production Planning and Coordination:
• Develop production plans and schedules in collaboration with the design and manufacturing teams.
• Coordinate with factories and production units to ensure adherence to timelines and production quotas.
• Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Quality Control:
• Establish quality standards and specifications for materials and finished products.
• Conduct regular quality inspections at various stages of production to identify defects and deviations from standards.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Cost Management:
• Monitor production costs and budgets to ensure adherence to financial targets.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization through efficient sourcing, production processes, and resource utilization.
• Analyze cost variances and propose cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
• Logistics and Shipping:
• Coordinate with logistics partners to arrange transportation and shipping of finished products.
• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
• Track shipments and resolve any issues or delays in transit to ensure on-time delivery.
• Communication and Collaboration:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturers regarding production-related matters.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams, including design, sales, and operations.
• Provide regular updates on production status, issues, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in production management or merchandising roles within the fashion or apparel industry.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric types, and production processes.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and ethical sourcing principles is desirable.
