Job Description
At Centra, the Assistant Project Manager is the person who keeps work moving. You’re out on site, working alongside crews, coordinating trades, solving problems early, and making sure what’s planned actually gets delivered. You’re not sitting behind a desk — you’re in the field, pushing progress and holding the line on execution.
This role exists to increase capacity, improve flow, and bring stronger accountability to our projects. You’ll support Senior Project Managers by taking ownership of site coordination and smaller scopes, while building toward larger project responsibility over time.
What You’ll Be Doing
Drive Execution on Site
Stay close to field operations and ensure work is progressing in line with plan
Work alongside Site Supervisors and crews to push productivity and keep momentum
Hold trades accountable to commitments and timelines
Identify issues early and take ownership of solving them before they impact the job
Scheduling & Work Planning
Support project schedules and ensure they reflect real on-site execution
Coordinate short-term lookaheads with trades and site teams
Monitor progress and step in to address delays, gaps, or conflicts
Ensure labour, materials, and sequencing are aligned to keep work flowing
Coordination & Follow-Through
Coordinate between trades, suppliers, and internal teams to keep work aligned
Ensure everything needed is in place before work starts
Track and follow through on open items, commitments, and action lists
Bridge communication between site and office
Own Smaller Projects & Scopes
Take full ownership of smaller jobs or scopes from start to finish
Manage planning, execution, scheduling, and closeout
Keep projects on track without relying on constant oversight
Project Controls
Maintain RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change tracking
Support contract administration and change management
Keep project information accurate and up to date
Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on construction or carpentry experience (on-site, not theoretical)
2+ years in a foreman, lead hand, or project coordination role
Red Seal Carpenter certification is a strong asset
Strong understanding of how construction projects actually run day-to-day
Experience working directly with trades and managing site-level coordination
Ability to read drawings and understand scope, sequencing, and execution
Comfortable managing multiple moving parts in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
Ideal Candidate
You’ve been on the tools. You understand how a job site works, and you’ve likely stepped into a leadership role where people look to you to keep things moving. You’re not passive — you take ownership, step in early, and don’t wait for problems to escalate. You’re organized, but more importantly, you’re practical. You know how work actually gets done and can bridge the gap between planning and execution. You’re comfortable holding people accountable, working alongside crews, and making decisions in real time. You want to grow into a larger project leadership role, and you’re ready to earn that by driving results on site.
Compensation
$70,000 – $80,000 total compensation
Growth path into Project Manager level roles
Why This Role Matters
This role directly improves how projects are delivered across the business — increasing team capacity, reducing delays, and driving more consistent execution on site. You will play a key role in building a stronger, more accountable project structure.
