We’re looking for an Assistant Riding Camp Director to help lead our horseback riding summer camp program—someone who can balance leadership, organization, and hands-on engagement while ensuring a safe, fun, and high-quality experience for every camper.

About the Role

As Assistant Camp Director, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our riding camp, supporting both campers and staff while ensuring programming runs smoothly, safely, and with energy.

You’ll be a visible, hands-on leader—guiding your team, solving problems in real time, and helping create a positive, inclusive environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Supervision

Lead and support a team of camp counsellors and volunteers
Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-driven culture
Provide daily coaching, guidance, and mentorship to staff
Set the tone for professionalism, energy, and accountability
Program Planning & Delivery

Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate riding and camp programs
Oversee daily schedules, ensuring activities run smoothly and on time
Ensure all programming meets strict safety and risk management standards, particularly around equine activities
Staff Training & Development

Support staff onboarding and lead ongoing training throughout the summer
Provide regular feedback and complete performance evaluations
Identify areas for improvement and implement training to elevate program quality
Operations & Logistics

Manage daily camp flow, including group organization and activity coordination
Oversee camper groupings, transitions, and overall program execution
Lead daily camp bus loading, ensuring organization, safety, and a positive start/end to each day
Handle on-site problem-solving, incident management, and quality control
Communication

Act as a key point of contact for parents and families, addressing questions or concerns
Send weekly parent updates with clear and engaging communication
Maintain consistent communication with the Executive Director on program updates and needs
Camper Experience & Support

Be actively involved with campers, helping create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment
Support campers through challenges with patience, empathy, and professionalism
Ensure every child feels welcomed, engaged, and confident
Additional Responsibilities

Represent the program at events and pre-camp educational presentations
Support special projects and initiatives as needed
What We’re Looking For

Strong leadership experience working with children and youth
Confident in managing teams in a fast-paced, outdoor setting
Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to stay calm under pressure and make decisions quickly
Passion for creating high-quality, engaging camp experiences
Previous horseback riding or equestrian experience is required
Required Experience & Availability

Availability from May 19 to August 16 (full contract term required)
3–4 years of horseback riding experience
All staff will ride the bus to the farm with the campers each day - bus departs from our Midtown Toronto location
Comfortable and confident walking, trotting, and cantering
(Note: Assistant Directors will not be responsible for instructing mounted riding lessons)
This role is suitable to candidates entering their 3rd year of post-secondary education or older
Schedule & Hours

May & June:
20–30 hours per week
Includes weekends – Saturday & Sunday
July & August:
Monday to Friday only
40-44 hours per week
Typical shift: 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM

Seasonal Summer Role
No Vacation time is available between July 6 & August 24 due to the camp schedule
