ASSISTANT UTILITY FOREMAN

Summary:
The Assistant Utility Foreman under supervision from the Utility Foreman will assist in supervising utility crews
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Constructs, cleans and repairs storm drains, ditches, pipelines, and catch basins,
• Locates and marks sanitary sewer/storm main lines and laterals to elevate necessity of repair or placement,
• Repairing and replacing water lines, installing water mains, replaces fire hydrants, and repairing water leaks,
• Assist in the supervision of the day-to-day operations of Utility crews, including scheduling and assigning duties,
Assist in maintaining safety procedures and report unsafe conditions,
• Assist inspecting completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards,
• Communicate with crew effectively and respectfully,
• Acts on behalf of the Utility Foreman in their absence,
• May be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends,
• Additional duties as required.
Job Requirements:
• Three (3) years of experience working in repair of utility system, including water, storm, electric and sewer,
• Valid driver’s license,
• Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards in laboring work and the necessity of safety precautions,
• Ability to read drawing, plans and blueprints,
• Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques,
• Ability to effectively communicate,
• Solid problem-solving skills,
• Experience working in construction management software including Procore and Viewpoint is a preferred but not required,
• COVID vaccination highly recommended,
• Must be able to pass drug screen and background check
Working Conditions:
• This job may require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
• This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet
regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces.
• This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).
• This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
• Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
