About the role

In your role as Associate Asset Manager you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.

This role will provide a great opportunity to work in the Direct Equity asset management team and alongside PMG’s Direct Equity investment teams (Private Equity and Infrastructure) and the management teams of PMG’s directly-held portfolio companies.

The successful candidate will join a growing team of asset managers who are focused on maximising returns and preserving value.

This will include, as demand dictates, a range of ‘hands on’ asset management activities within select portfolio companies.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the Private Markets you will be responsible for:
• Own Function (AM) Responsibilities
• Assist with the PMG investment teams on pre-execution due diligence relevant to both the investment case for acquiring the asset as well as to ongoing asset management considerations
• Contribute to the definition and execution of a 100-day plan value levers for newly-acquired portfolio companies across people, capital and sustainability themes
• Assist with the elaboration of Asset Management Plans (AMPs) for PMG’s directly held assets contributing to define objectives that are key to value enhancement and/or value preservation
• Through the asset management planning process, work with the senior members of the asset management team in helping to develop key strategic business and operational goals with appropriate KPIs (financial, operational and ESG-related including carbon net zero)
• Monitor and assess asset performance versus those goals / KPIs as well as helping to identify and mitigate key risks
• Contribute to key discussion items at the relevant asset management committees and support with the preparation of materials
• Support the valuation process of directly held assets in collaboration with the internal and external USS valuation teams

About you

To be successful in the role you will have:e.
• Experienced in either an investment or asset management role working with privately-held companies within a Private Equity and/or Infrastructure setting
• Likely to have worked in a similar role in one or more of the following: GP, Pension Fund, Asset / Fund Manager
• Experience within a Financial Services’ consultancy / transaction services’ organisation would be considered
• Experience in the corporate finance or M&A at a big utility also welcome
• Familiarity with industry-standard valuation practices, modelling and knowledge of key financial terms
