Overview:

Reporting to the APAC General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will be a member of the L.E.K. in-house legal team. This senior lawyer role carries out responsibilities within APAC’s legal team, serving the firm’s APAC business, including, but not limited to: overseeing the Mumbai-based legal team; overseeing APAC commercial contracting; building key partnerships and relationships with L.E.K.’s internal and external clients and leadership; assisting with various risk management programs; working with cross-functional teams across the firm; and, championing sales and business enablement by bringing a best-in-class, client-services mindset to all aspects of the role. This position requires the ability to balance business needs and objectives of L.E.K.’s internal stakeholders with partnering and arriving at mutual solutions with our external clients. The successful incumbent must be an agile and out-of-the-box thinker who can problem solve complex legal and business issues.

Responsibilities:

Manage the drafting, review, control, negotiation, and finalization of high volume internal, external, and third-party contracts, including working with the APAC General Counsel, and alongside another Associate General Counsel, APAC to execute and deploy sector and service-line-specific contracting requirements and strategies.
Contribute to managing the complete APAC contracts lifecycle process, including the tracking of data and analytics.
Maintain a progressive negotiation philosophy, aimed at reaching mutual solutions for L.E.K. and our external clients.
Contribute to managing the legal side of certain cross-functional business development and strategic processes, such as RFPs, working capital initiatives, and business enablement processes.
Assist with delivery of risk management training programs across the APAC business.
Work with executive leaders and sector heads, as well as other cross-functional departments, to leverage legal and business acumen in developing and fostering best-in-class business relationships.
Oversee the Mumbai-based members of the APAC legal team, providing the team with day to day touchpoints, and being a senior resource for the team.
Work with our global legal operations team on workflow and process improvements, innovation initiatives, strategic plan execution, and advanced data analytics on various contracting and other legal datapoints.
Assist other members on the APAC legal team and support legal providers with ensuring delivery of final, agreed-upon contracts.
Support the APAC General Counsel with the legal team’s longer-term, strategic projects, as necessary.
Requirements:

A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree, with accomplished academic record from a top, accredited university. A Master of Laws (LL.M.) preferred, but not required.
Admitted to practice law in the State of Maharashtra, or any other state in India.
10+ years PQE in private practice or in-house legal team within a professional services firm, or similar environment, ideally with international exposure.
Demonstrated experience successfully negotiating contracts and internal projects.
A detail-oriented person, who exercises excellent judgement and professionalism, and thinks creatively and critically, in order to partner with our clients to reach mutually agreed-upon solutions.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, appropriately escalating issues when needed.
The ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment, with a good sense of emotional intelligence, as well as a dynamic personality, to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task, incorporating outstanding organizational skills and flexibility, to prioritize work and deliver the maximum business value.
A strong business acumen.
Familiarity with applicable laws, statutes, and regulations.
Familiarity and comfort with legal technology solutions, including contracts management databases.
Willingness to develop and grow a team and mentor others.
Language skills in Arabic preferred, but not required.
