Responsibilities:
• As an Azure Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing Azure SQL
• databases. Your responsibilities include:
Azure SQL Management:
• Work with Azure SQL, particularly Azure Native and SQL Native, and other related
• products as necessary.
• Install, configure, set up, administer, and maintain production and non-production
• environments.
High-Availability and Disaster Recovery:
• Set up high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Plan and test these solutions to ensure data continuity.
Security and User Management:
• Create users and assign/manage permissions based on their required access levels.
• Ensure robust and foolproof security for database assets.
Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting:
• Resolve database integrity, performance, blocking connectivity, and replication issues.
• Detect and address CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other contention-related
• problems.
Backup and Recovery:
• Perform and manage database backup, recovery, and restore operations.
• Monitor capacity and optimize resource utilization.
Azure Synapse Workload Management:
• Optimize workload management within Azure Synapse.
Automation and Alerts:
• Set up SQL agent jobs, elastic jobs, and runbook automation.
• Identify and configure alerts and logging in Azure.
Database Maintenance:
• Maintain databases by managing statistics, indexes, and fragmentation.
• Upgrade and patch SQL Server and related software as needed.
Data Archiving and Removal:
• Coordinate the removal or archiving of data no longer required in production databases.
SSIS and SSRS Support:
• Deploy and configure SSIS packages and SSRS reports.
• Troubleshoot issues related to SSRS and SSIS.
Release and Deployment Support:
• Assist with release and code deployment activities.
Operational Automation:
• Implement operational automation using scripts.
Qualifications:
• To excel in this role, you should have the following qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree or related working experience.
Azure Expertise:
• Native Azure SQL experience with 4-5 years of relevant experience, including familiarity
• with Azure Data Factory.
Technical Skills:
• Experience in replication and query optimization.
• Strong overall experience at least 10+ years in database administration.
• Knowledge of high-availability/failover technologies.
• Familiarity with log shipping and disaster recovery environments.
• Experience with Data Sync in Azure and other data replication technologies.
Performance Tuning:
• Strong experience in performance tuning and optimization.
SQL Server Versions:
• Experience with SQL Server versions 2005 to 201+.
SSIS Troubleshooting:
• Proficiency in running and troubleshooting SSIS packages.
Communication Skills:
• Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
