Become a Math Teacher by Fall Apply to the NYC Teaching Fellows
Every student in New York City deserves an excellent teacher.
The NYC Teaching Fellows is an alternative teacher certification program designed to provide training and support to aspiring teachers who will dedicate themselves to raising student achievement and effecting change in New York City's highest-need schools.
Here's how it works:
The fulltime 7week summer training program runs from June
August 2026
Training includes handson experience in real NYC Public Schools classrooms
Program participants receive targeted, ongoing coaching from skilled Coaches
Following summer training, program participants begin teaching fulltime as salaried teachers in a New York City Public Schools classroom in September 2026
Within 23 years, participants earn a subsidized master's degree and apply for New York State initial teaching certification to continue their teaching careers.

Eligibility Requirements
Before applying to the NYC Teaching Fellows program, make sure that you meet basic program eligibility requirements:
Bachelor's degree conferred by May 31, 2026
Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5
Fluent in written and spoken English
United States work authorization (NYCTF does not sponsor candidates)
Never participated in a program that would lead to certification in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
