Job Description
The Billing Coordinator shall be responsible for managing the billing system for the Central Billing Office and Professional Billing Office. The Coordinator will be responsible to ensure accounts are billed accurately due to regulatory requirements, such as combining for outpatient overlap or Medicare three day payment window, as well as to, reconcile accounts and provide QA across the various patient accounting systems for the hospitals and associated provider based entities. This individual will be responsible to prepare analysis and reports for leadership related to hospital and provider based billing to encompass but not limited to: edits, denials, regulatory changes, clean claim rates, payer acceptance rates, and measure against internal and industry set KPIs for hospital and provider based billing. The Coordinator will be responsible to ensure accurate and timely completion of any EDI and ERA enrollments as required by payers. Additionally, this individual will perform QA related to claims billing for hospital and provider based billing across multiple systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory and provider based requirements. The Coordinator will work closely with the Application Coordinators and IT to review and test edits and changes applied to 3M, STAR, Cerner, and other systems interfaced passing claims data. This individual will need to stay current with payer and regulatory changes to distribute information to management and recommend any changes that may be needed to meet requirements. This position may have additional duties assigned as needed.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• College degree preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years hospital health care experience or medical office billing experience required.
• Knowledge of Payer, Governmental and Provider based billing regulatory requirements required.
• Must have PC and Billing system experience.
• Knowledge of coding rules and requirements preferred.
• CPAR preferred
• Ability to perform analytical problem solving
• Organization and time management skills.
• Ability to establish priorities and manage workload effectively.
• Self-motivated and capable of working without direct supervision.
• Dependable in both production and attendance
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of customers in a diverse environment.
• Strong interpersonal/public relations
• Working knowledge of PC applications, Word, Excel, etc.

• Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations
• Knowledge of federal, commercial and managed care payers.
• Ability to operate concurrently within a variety of hospital systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with managers and other areas within the system.
