Main purpose of job:

The Marketing and Communication team of the Department of Business and Trade is seeking a talented individual to join their team as an in-house designer based out of Mumbai. This role requires that the successful candidate delivers on the design and branding needs of the Department, with a focus on creating high-quality design artworks that can range from print to digital marketing materials. This role is primarily that of a Graphic Designer but would involve supporting events through design work. The main purpose of the designer would mainly involve delivering great designs on deadline, as per brand-guideline’s and to brief. This role involves working closely with the senior designers, marketing team, brand & production team to develop and execute design strategies that meet our goals.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

Answer briefs by developing design solutions to support the DBT’s marketing strategies.
Collaborate with the South Asia, Global MarComms Hub and HQ design team to ensure brand compliance on all assets developed.
Work closely with the Marketing Team and sector teams to ensure that creatives and branding materials are produced getting the maximum impact for events based on larger sector and organization priorities.
Assist in sourcing the right images and brand assets from the GREAT (campaign) Asset Brand Library for events and marketing materials.
Produce high quality print and accessible digital assets using Adobe Creative Cloud Design Suite, with proficiency mainly in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. 2D Illustrations, 2D Animation/motion graphics, photography and video editing skills will be appreciated and given preference. The various creatives the designer will get to work on are branded brochures, twitter cards, html invites, pull-up standees, emailers, posters, large stage backdrops, virtual stage graphics, infographics, newsletters, venue decor branding, etc. The designer must adhere to the brand guidelines at all times.
Must upload artworks and open working files after finishing a design brief on the GREAT asset Brand Library. Must have working knowledge of iMac/Macbook/iOS and MS Office suite.
Responsible for the production process in a design brief - Coordinate with South Asia, HQ and/or APAC design team, sector teams, event organisers and printers for the best design output when needed.
Ability to create digital content in support of social media channels, such as videos, banners, etc.
Follow design request processes to maintain high-quality output on all designs within agreed timelines set by your line manager.
Communicate design concepts clearly and confidently; may require interacting with stakeholders across different levels.
Be an out of the box thinker, highly organised, able to multitask and remain calm during times of pressure to deliver on tight deadlines.
Your work will be divided into 60% design delivery and strategy; 20% communication and production - coordinating with sectors, organisers, printers etc.; 20% venue recess and design analysis.
Must have a clear understanding of layout-creation and visual alignment.
Manage multiple projects/briefs concurrently, balancing priorities and deadlines.
Ensure the quality of all output aligns with our high standards and brand consistency.
Language requirements:

Language: English
Level of language required: Fluent.

Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed):
Research and study on government branding and communication (to learn on the job)

Working patterns: Positively for a minimum of 3 days to work from office and 2 days remotely.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Essential on arrival:


Atleast 3 years of Creative working experience
Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, or a related field.
Hands on experience of working with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
Good communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively
Ability to develop print-ready artwork files.
Problem solving attitude
Creative thinking
Experience with study and work in design with an extensive & diverse portfolio showcasing expertise in the above software.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Desirable:
Knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe After effects software, additional skills such as photography, video editing, 2D illustrations and motion graphics. Experience with designing for events and exhibitions will be an added bonus.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 68,508 per month plus a 12% Provident Fund and 6% Superannuation Fund.

Additionally (if applicable) the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family.

No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.

Please note - BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
