Job Description
Responsibilities:
The position requires preparing patients for Ophthalmic exams and special testing procedures by accurately documenting patient information, performing preliminary diagnostic testing to assist the Provider in the ocular health exam of the patient. It also includes front office reception roles and possibly some general building attendances in a growing practice.
Building responsibilities include tracking payments, keeping maintenance log of employee vehicles, things that require simple tools like volt meter, and screw drivers. New practice, so optometry is not that busy. Your time will be split 50/50 between duties related to the building and optometry.
Answer phones, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and understand explanation of benefits.
Obtain the patient’s ocular, medical, and social history
Measure visual acuity of the patient, with and without glasses, for distance and near vision.
Lensometry (measurements for the glasses prescription)
Tonometry (measure eye pressure)
Assist with frame selection, pupil distance measurements and complete sale of contact lens and glasses
Assist with contact lens fitting, and patient instruction
Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures
Record patient chief complaint and HPI
Perform other duties incidental to the work described
Qualifications:
Education: College degree. College degree in the field of science preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare or ophthalmology setting preferred.
Requirements: Computer skills, customer service skills, ability to travel to other office locations on occasion, ability to stay late or come in early if needed.
Job Type: part-time 1-2 days, negotiable
Pay: $12-$20.00 per hour
Supplemental Pay:
Bonus pay- commission payments per sale
