PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Medical Imaging Business Manager serves as the business leader for medical imaging, ensuring efficient and cost-effective business operations, financial oversight, and strategic procurement. The role involves working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to optimize financial performance, manage procurement, and support capital equipment planning. The Business Manager is also responsible for innovation initiatives, revenue optimization, and supporting the adoption of new technologies. They work closely with the Program Operational Director, Program Managers, procurement agencies, vendors, suppliers, Financial Services and leadership across our program.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:

Innovation, Funding, and Revenue Improvement
Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate and implement new technologies, ensuring value-for-money or return on investment (ROI) for new products, contracts, or service delivery proposals.
Develop and coordinate the program process for requesting and approving new products and technologies.
Lead in the development of business plans for new technologies and procedures under the direction of the Program Operational Director (POD).
Monitor and optimize revenue streams from various sources.
Track activity, capture data, and generate reports on volumes and required information for submission by set deadlines (e.g., DI Guided Procedures / CCTAs).
Financial Management
Oversee and administer departmental financial policies and procedures, including supply and equipment plans and strategies.
Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of financial processes to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses to compare actual results against projections.
Identify and analyze budget variances, collaborating with leadership to address issues and providing regular financial reporting.
Develop and maintain financial reports to assist leadership in monitoring departmental budget status.
Provide analytical and consultative financial support to leaders for effective decision-making.
Supply Management and Optimization of Procurement
Work with modality leadership to optimize supply procurement and utilization within the Medical Imaging department.
Manage supply chain activities, including contract negotiations in conjunction with MMC/hospital procurement teams, overseeing purchasing, receiving, tracking, and inventory management.
Promote cost-effective use of supplies by working with staff and physicians to standardize products, minimize unnecessary special orders, and reduce waste.
Monitor and optimize rebates and value-added services to enhance procurement efficiency.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve product utilization, including monitoring case costing and assessing supply options to reduce expenses.
Capital Equipment Planning and Procurement
Manage the capital equipment acquisition process, including leading Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for Medical Imaging.
Collaborate with program managers to identify capital needs for both ad hoc and annual budget submissions.
Oversee service contract management in collaboration with Clinical Engineering, leadership, and procurement teams, exploring cost optimization opportunities.
Create and maintain 5-year capital plan with strategies for replacement and flags for end of life and end of service life equipment.
Research Requests, Processes, and Reimbursement
Review and respond to initial research requests by assessing operational feasibility, research fees, and timelines.
Manage standardized research processes, including an intake system and a structured fee guide, to support departmental research while ensuring hospital expenses are reimbursed.
Responsible for monitoring, reporting, and implementing course corrections as needed for research happening in the department.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree in Business Administration or equivalent management experience required.
Completion of Master’s degree in Allied Health, Business/Health Administration an asset.
3-5 years healthcare experience required.
2 years leadership experience preferred.
Medical Imaging experience preferred.
Comprehensive clinical / healthcare background.
Analytical/ financial management.
QI knowledge.
Strong in business case and plan development.
Intermediate computer skills.
Knowledge of business plan development.
Excellent communication.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (Microsoft Office Suite)
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Project Management and or Continuous Quality Improvement methodology.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate change.
Demonstrated judgement, decision-making, problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to deal with numerous demands in a professional and competent manner.
Ability to prioritize tasks for self and others.
Proven ability to attend work regularly.
Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.
