ABOUT US
Established in 2017, Taste My Bean is more than just a coffee drive-thru — we're a brand built on quality, speed, and genuine customer service. With five stores across South-East Queensland and more to come, we pride ourselves on delivering top-notch real coffee, fresh food, and a fast, friendly experience every day of the year.
Our stores are designed to be modern, inviting spaces where barista-made coffee and a solid food menu come together with fast, efficient service. But more than that, we're about people — our team is the heart of TMB. We’ve built a strong, supportive workplace culture that values hard work, good vibes, and doing things properly.
We believe in training our people well, offering real support, and promoting from within. Many of our team members have grown with us into leadership and management roles, and we’re always on the lookout for the next great fit for our crew.
We work hard, have fun, and show up for each other — and our customers can feel the difference. Taste My Bean isn’t just where you grab a coffee — it’s where quality meets culture.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a full-time Assistant Manager (2IC) to join our Geebung team on a set fixed roster of five close shifts each week, including at least one weekend day. These shifts are not rotating — your roster will stay the same week to week.
As 2IC, you’ll work closely with the Store Manager and be responsible for closing the store each shift, leading the team through service and ensuring everything is cleaned down, packed away, and locked up properly. You’ll also guide junior team members, handle service issues as they arise, and keep everything running smoothly into the evening.
This is a hands-on role for someone confident with both barista work and team leadership. You’ll be expected to work across all café areas — coffee, service, food, cleaning, and supervision — while maintaining a calm, organised, and productive shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Take customer orders using the POS system or drive-through headset
Accurately process payments, handle cash, and give correct change
Prepare and assemble food items, including heating and packing orders
Clean all areas of the café, including floors, dishes, benches, and bathrooms
Maintain café stock and supplies, restocking fridges and shelves as needed
Operate the drive-through speaker and headsets to provide quick, clear service
Follow food safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures
Support team workflow during busy periods
Prepare barista-made drinks from the TMB menu, including hot coffees, iced drinks, and specialty beverages
Use, clean, and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and related equipment correctly
Ensure coffee quality, taste, and presentation meet TMB standards
2IC Leadership Tasks:
Lead and direct the team through scheduled closing shifts
Delegate tasks and maintain flow and service standards during peak periods
Train and mentor junior team members, providing ongoing support and coaching
Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and professional team environment
Fault-find and resolve minor equipment or store-related issues during shifts
Communicate clearly with upper management about any unresolved or critical issues
Complete basic written reporting when required (e.g. shift notes, stock issues, incident records)
Support rostering, shift cover, and operational needs when the Store Manager is unavailable
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
Previous barista experience on a manual espresso machine
Prior leadership or supervisor experience in a café or fast-paced hospitality setting
Strong spoken English; clear verbal communication is essential for headset orders, team direction, and customer service
Confident working with customers and leading a team in a high-volume environment
Must be available for a set roster of afternoon-to-close shifts, including weekends (not rotating)
Must be confident closing the café and following lock-up procedures independently
Able to work within a large team and follow operational procedures
Physically able to stand for long periods and lift items up to 20kg
Able to follow TMB’s food safety, cleaning, and product handling procedures
Must have the right to work in Australia and be 16 years or older
