Work at the heart of the electricity sector - the Transmission System Operator
Deliver both near term and medium to long term investment planning
Engage and build relationships to provide regulatory and strategic support
Support and work closely with the Capability & Capital Planning Manager in the delivery of critical operations investment roadmap and investment plan.

Transpower's purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.

About the team

Our Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver solutions required to manage the real time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/our-system-operator-role

The group plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. They are working to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.

The OPTI Capability and Capital Planning team develops and maintains a relevant capability model and assesses the maturity level for Operations, as agreed by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The team also maintains the capability roadmap, a forward-looking workplan across Operations, collaborating closely with our Information Services and Technology division to create a unified investment plan that delivers long-term business outcomes for the division.

This role offers intellectually challenging work, with daily on-the-job learning and engagement with a wide range of internal stakeholders. This may include building relationships with teams such as our Regulatory team, ICT, Finance, Grid Projects, and across the Operations Division. A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as commerce, business, finance, science, or equivalent experience.
