Position Summary:
The Case Aide is responsible for completing activities prior to the arrival of new refugees. These pre-arrival services include apartment set-up, purchase of furniture and supplies, airport reception, scheduling, transporting and accompanying clients to medical and social services appointments; and completing other core services. The Case Aide will ensure that all core services are provided to the clients professionally and in a timely manner.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Complete all pre-arrival arrangements with special attention on apartment set-up and safety of home (i.e. furniture set-up, household supplies, culturally ready-to-eat food; and ensure that apartment and its appliances are in good and working condition).
• Responsible for picking up clients at the airport and transporting them to apartment.
• Complete home safety checklists and supply checklists before refugee clients arrive
• Provide personal and home safety orientation (i.e. how to operate appliances, safety procedures, where to locate the apartment office, laundry room, supermarket, bank and bus system, etc.).
• Transport and accompany clients to medical and/or social service appointments.
• Assist with completing forms and applications related to medical, school and social service needs.
• Complete vehicle reports prior to and after use of agency vehicles.
• Report any vehicle issues to Case Aide Supervisor.
• Assist with incoming donations and organizing of donations.
• Provide translation and interpretation when needed.
• Complete and submit daily activity logs to Case Aide Supervisor.
• Complete all required documentation accurately, on time and using proper English.
• Protect all confidential information in electronic and hard-copy case files
• Comply with safety rules as outlines by the Agency.
• Other related duties as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bilingual in English, Spanish or other languages spoken by refugees preferred.
• Knowledgeable of the city as well as understand written directions and road maps.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision while completing all tasks.
• Ability work in a multi-cultural setting.
• Good oral and written communication.
• Proficiency in computers and software including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of high school diploma and three years’ work experience in administration field.
• Must be at least 25 years and have a valid Nevada driver’s license (must provide a clean driving history for the past three years).
• Flexible schedule to work after hours and weekends, as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
• Primarily works out of the office transporting clients throughout the day or setting up apartments; some office hours are required.
• Ability to communicate with clients, co-workers and community partners.
• Ability to operate and use office equipment, especially computer, keyboard and mouse.
• Ability to drive a large vehicle (Suburban). Ability to drive a vehicle throughout entire shift if needed. Ability to regularly enter and exit vehicles.
• Ability to continuously sit and/or stand. Ability to climb stairs as needed.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
This position pays $18.00 per hour.
