Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Sales associate to join our retail team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, managing transactions accurately, and assisting with sales and merchandising efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and experience in retail or grocery store environments. Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve our diverse customer base. Responsibilities
Operate POS systems efficiently to process transactions accurately and quickly
Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases
Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision and integrity
Upsell products and promote special offers to maximize sales opportunities
Check and verify ID for all age-restricted products (tobacco, vape, lottery, liquor)
Stock shelves, rotate products, and maintain inventory levels
Prepare and maintain the coffee station and other beverage/food areas
Keep the store clean, organized, and fully stocked (shelves, coolers, counters, etc.)
Receive, unpack, and organize deliveries
Follow all store policies, including safety and loss-prevention procedures
Report any issues, shortages, or maintenance needs to management
Support other team members and perform additional tasks as needed
Skills
Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor
Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette
Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions and inventory management
Experience in retail sales, merchandising, stocking, or grocery store environments preferred
Supervising experience is a plus for leadership roles within the team
Bilingual skills are advantageous for serving a diverse clientele
Ability to upsell products effectively to increase sales volume
Basic math skills necessary for handling cash registers and calculating totals confidently
Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting to 25–40 lbs
Must be 18+ years old to sell age-restricted products
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
