The Category Manager, Construction and Facilities is responsible for the provision of procurement-related expertise, advice and assistance to optimise value for money outcomes and deliver a collaborative and integrated approach to category planning, contract management and supplier relationship management (SRM). The role will take a partnership approach, supporting DEECA business groups with procurement advice and assistance to deliver effective category management practices. The role is primarily responsible for, but not limited to, managing the construction and facilities category and the development and ownership of the construction and facilities category management strategy. The role will work across other categories as required. The role also provides leadership and advice to the Procurement branch on a range of functions in support of the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO).

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Established technical proficiency in negotiation, category management and SRM.
Demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices and procedures, including demonstrated capacity to understand and apply the Victorian Government Purchasing Board guidelines with minimum two years relevant experience.
Demonstrated expertise in construction and facilities procurement including industry and market trends is highly desirable.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics or a related discipline are desirable.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
