Job Title: Cath Lab Technician
Job Summary:
The Cath Lab Technician plays a vital role in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, assisting cardiologists and registered nurses with invasive cardiovascular procedures. They operate complex imaging equipment, maintain patient safety, and ensure efficient lab operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procedural Support:
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and obtaining consent.
- Assist cardiologists and nurses during procedures, maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Operate angiography equipment, such as X-ray machines, echocardiogram devices, and hemodynamic monitors.
2. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and report any issues.
3. Patient Care:
- Monitor patient vital signs and ECG readings during procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and recovery.
4. Data Management:
- Maintain accurate records and reports of procedures and patient data.
- Enter data into hospital information systems and maintain confidentiality.
5. Lab Operations:
- Clean and maintain equipment, adhering to infection control standards.
- Restock supplies and maintain lab inventory.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
6. Professional Development:
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in cardiac catheterization.
- Participate in continuing education and training to maintain certifications.
