The role
The Central Administrator role within the Customer Success department is essential to maintaining the efficient administrative processes that underpin high-quality learning experiences and membership services. This position encompasses a range of tasks, including processing bookings, managing membership applications, handling customer enquiries, and supporting financial transactions.
This role involves active collaboration with internal teams, such as Finance, Employer Solutions, and CIPD Learning & Development, to resolve enquiries and manage payment and invoice issues. The role also includes direct interaction with customers to provide support, address concerns, and foster positive engagement with CIPD’s learning and membership services.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Processing bookings and applications: efficiently handle bookings and membership applications both offline and via phone.
• Following established service standards, business rules, and data protection guidelines when processing bookings, applications, and membership activities.
• Providing administrative support for customer enquiries: perform a variety of administrative tasks to support customer enquiries and meet service level targets.
• Addressing customer enquiries related to membership verification, ensuring strict compliance with data protection regulations.
• Invoice and credit management: promptly generating invoices for CIPD Learning courses and membership, credit notes, and confirmations in line with service standards, and act as the primary contact for related queries.
• Providing customer service support via multiple channels: delivering responsive, high-quality customer service for enquiries related to bookings, applications, and payments through both phone and email.
• Booking and application amendments: accurately processing cancellations, transfers, substitutions, and other amendments, applying appropriate fees as necessary.
• Working closely with the Finance team to resolve complex payment and invoice enquiries, ensuring accurate financial allocation across systems.
• Supporting credit control by assisting in minimising revenue loss by following up on overdue payments from course participants and members.

• Previous experience in a high-volume, customer-focused environment is essential.
• Able to meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and high-quality standards.
• Detail-oriented, ensuring thoroughness in all tasks.
• Proficient in IT systems and confident in data entry.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
• Demonstrates logical thinking, analytical skills, and effective problem-solving abilities.
• Has an aptitude for statistical analysis and a basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Communicates effectively, with excellent telephone etiquette, and engages well with individuals at all levels.
• A collaborative team player who fosters a positive and cooperative work environment.
• Quick to adapt and proficient in learning new technologies.
