Join Eden’s team as a Special Education Teacher, educating high school students with autism. At The Eden School, our teachers collaborate with an energetic and knowledgeable team of clinical and educational support staff to provide education and behavior reduction programs for each student.
Celebrating 50 years providing lifespan services for children and adults, Eden is a nationally recognized program specializing in the support of those with profound autism. Utilizing an ABA model, Eden provides a private school setting where students ages 3-21 with high-level support needs are given the tools to gain independence.
RESPONSIBILITY SNAPSHOT:
Classroom oversight (approximately 8-12 students) – IEP development, analysis of data and graphing, quarterly progress reporting, and providing coverage of students during staff absences and as needed.
Program and curriculum development to include academic, self-care, daily living skills, social and communication, and vocational skill acquisition.
Supervision of Teaching Assistants – providing training and feedback, weekly staff meetings, quality assessment checks.
Identification and management of maladaptive behaviors including self-injury and aggression. Collaboration with clinical staff in development and implementation of behavior support plans; implementing crisis management strategies and interventions when required.
MUST HAVES:
Master’s degree in special education or related field
New Jersey Teaching Certification is required
Special Education/Teacher of the Handicapped
Elementary Education and Teacher of Students with Disabilities
Must have experience working with individuals with profound autism/DD and/or behavior challenges.
Valid, unsuspended driver’s license is required.
Physical Abilities:
Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
Skills & Knowledge:
Competent in Applied Behavior Analysis; familiar with behavior and teaching methodologies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise independent judgement, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.
