Viavio Limited manufactures and sells high quality Italian style cheeses in Nelson. Our product assortment varies from fresh cheeses (mozzarella, stracchino, ricotta, burrata, etc.) to aged ones (caciocavallo, gorgonzola, fontal, pecorino, etc.). We currently employ an Italian Cheese Master with more than 20 years of experience.
Our project aims at expanding our assortments and volumes still keeping the same high quality and skilled manufacturing processes. Therefore, we are looking for a cheese maker who will help our Cheese Master in all factory activities including cleaning and packaging. The candidate should be skilled enough to perform production activities alone in peak seasons as well as when the Cheese Master is on holiday or not present for other reasons.
The candidate we are looking for, should be passionate about cheese making, will look positively at the opportunity to improve his/her professional skills working beside the Cheese Master and would like to be part of our venture in the long term
Job description:
Assist the Cheese Master in all the production activities and replace him if needed
Perform cheese packaging using the appropriate machineries
Deal with Italian suppliers for orders and any support for machineries usage we may need
Help with parcels preparation and deliveries
Perform cheese factory cleaning activities (crucial in our business)
Help in customer relationship/sales activities including sales at the markets and in-store tastings
Please note that the production activities may require long hours of work even at night in order to make sure that the cheese is ready for delivery in the morning.
Experienced required
Cheese maker school degree with focus on Italian cheeses
At least 2 years of experience in making Italian cheeses including Mozzarella, ricotta, stracchino, gorgonzola and caciocavallo
Italian language knowledge to be able to deal with Italian suppliers
Passion and high level of commitment in the job
Willingness to work in team
