About the Role
We are looking for a full time Chef who will assist the business with menu planning, preparation, cook, and present high‑quality dishes in our busy café, ensuring food standards are met at every stage. Salary range is from $73,000 to $78,000 – varies according to experience.
The duties include (but not limited to):
Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of menu items in line with seasonal and daily offerings
Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff in daily operations, including preparation, cooking, and presentation
Ensure compliance with food hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and consistency across all dishes
Assist with stock ordering, inventory management, and supplier relationships
Contribute to the development and testing of new menu items
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times
Requirements and Qualifications
AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma or higher
Minimum 1 year of full-time employment experience as a Chef in a busy commercial kitchen
Proven ability to manage food preparation and cooking operations in a busy café or restaurant environment
Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and allergen management
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Ability to work under pressure and lead by example in a fast-paced kitchen setting
Experience in café-style or modern Australian cuisine
Has supervisory or team leadership experience
Experienced in menu planning and cost control
