What does a typical day look like?
Bring your Culinary skills to our dedicated team of craftspeople, curating and presenting restaurant quality meals at 40,000ft in the sky. As a Chef in our Production Team, you will be working in a busy, open plan kitchen preparing & cooking various hot & cold meals in commercial quantities, for our Customer Airlines.
Specifically we are looking for Chefs with experience in handling and preparing ingredients and cooking authentic recipes in Asian cuisines such as Cantonese, Malay, Thai, Chinese, Singaporean, Peranakan or Viet style dishes.
In a nutshell, your main responsibilities are:
Preparing hot & cold meals for First, Business & Economy class passengers for various international Airlines in bulk.
Stock control & minimizing food wastage.
Ensure that taste, consistency and presentation are at the highest possible standard
Maintaining a strictly hygienic work environment at all times.
Use proper techniques such as cook-chill methods for safe intermittent food storage
Following menu specifications as well as Food Safety / HACCP & OHS guidelines.
Follow Master Production Schedule (MPS) for daily and weekly flight planning
Work with Catering Attendants and Leading Hands in Production to meet targets
Take direction and carry out any assigned tasks from Sous Chefs and CDPs in charge of our various sections
What do you need to be successful in securing this role?
Minimum Certificate III Commercial Cookery or higher qualifications
Experience with ingredients and cooking Asian cuisines - 3 years min.
Wok dishes experience preferred.
Passion & drive to deliver high quality food to our customers.
Ability to work various shifts on a 7-day rotating roster.
Good written & verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Good organizational & time management skills.
Must be motivated, hardworking & have a good attitude.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or high volume restaurant environment
As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check (at our cost).
Availability to work 38 hours/week, as this role is a full-time permanent position.
