The opportunity

The Chief Enterprise Compliance Officer is a senior leadership role critical to QBE’s success, shaping and leading the Group compliance strategy and global policy framework across a complex international enterprise. Reporting to the Group Chief Compliance Officer, the role partners closely with divisional teams to manage regulatory risk, drive simplification, enable data use and technology applications, and translate strategy into practical, effective outcomes.

Your new role

A high-performing Compliance function is critical to QBE’s success, and as Chief Enterprise Compliance Officer you will be in a key senior position to support the development and management of our Group Compliance strategy and global policy frameworks. In collaboration with Divisional Compliance teams, you will manage risks across our diverse global enterprise, achieving positive results and building strong communities of practice in Compliance.

Key to success in this role is translating QBE’s vision and strategy into operational deliverables while working on continuous improvement and ongoing simplification of our compliance systems, processes and practices. Leading a team of specialists you will be a key contributor to the function and a thought leader to help solve problems across the business.

Key accountabilities include:

Proactively inputting to the strategic direction of Risk and Compliance, delivering simplification and alignment opportunities across QBE.

Ownership of global compliance policies and advisory for important Group policies and procedures.

Provide second line compliance oversight of shared services and head office functions.

Driving and overseeing the Group Compliance monitoring program.

Lead the identification and research to interpret legal and regulatory requirements (regulatory and compliance horizon scanning) to proactively respond and mature global compliance policy.

Building strong and effective global Compliance communities of practice, in collaboration with Divisional Compliance, for thought leadership, best practice and problem-solving outcomes.

Providing practical advice and support in respect of compliance matters, acting as the compliance lead in the satisfactory completion of projects and other initiatives requiring compliance team support to drive and deliver business improvements.

About you

This is an opportunity for a seasoned compliance professional with a strong technical background in building and implementing effective compliance programs including policies and frameworks.

Ideally you will have demonstrable practitioner experience working in risk and compliance in financial services, with insurance industry experience being highly regarded for this recruitment.
