The role
Applications are currently being sought from experienced and dedicated Chinese Teachers to join our team on a full time, 1.0FTE, basis. Working as part of our supportive Language Faculty, you will teach students across Years 7 to 12.
As a Chinese Teacher at Brighton Grammar you will be responsible for using evidence-based teaching strategies to deliver a curriculum that engages and challenges each student in line with the School’s effective learner model. Experience teaching Year 12 Chinese as a Second Language and Second Language Advanced (SLA) is considered essential to the role.
To be successsful and thrive in this position, you will be required to demonstrate:
An effective and engaging approach to teaching Chinese as a Second Language and Second Language Advanced.
The ability to deliver curriculum to different ages and abilities, using frequent formative assessment to check for student understanding.
The ability to differentiate the curriculum and assessments to accommodate the learning needs of students in combined classes (for example SL and SLA combined classes).
Effective classroom management skills to maximise learning opportunities for students.
Use ******** instruction techniques and frequent formative assessment to check for student understanding.
Knowledge of research findings relevant to student learning and Chinese education.
A pursuit of continuous improvement and self-reflection as a teacher.
A commitment to collaborate with colleagues in planning, implementing and reviewing curriculum through the design and editing of shared resources.
The ability to establish and foster relationships with students, staff and parents.
A willingness to be actively involved in the cultural, pastoral and co-curricular activities of the School.
