We are currently seeking a dedicated and hands-on Foreperson to join our team in Christchurch and oversee the management of our chipsealing crews. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and contribute to a high-performing team working on various civil infrastructure projects.
As the Foreperson, you will be responsible for managing and supervising chipsealing activities. Your role will involve the planning. Organising, directing, and controlling of crew operations to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. You will lead by example, driving operational excellence while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Organise, direct, and monitor project operations, prioritising tasks and assigning resources effectively
Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure work meets project objectives and specifications
Ensure all plant under your control is operated safely and efficiently, with pre-start checks completed daily
Maintain positive relationships with clients and local authorities, ensuring smooth site operations and addressing any concerns promptly
Monitor and manage risks effectively, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards

Proven experience in supervising teams and subcontractors within chipsealing operations
Ability to respond to unexpected events, make decisions, and provide clear direction
Strong organisational skills with systematic approach to work
Excellent planning, verbal and written communication skills
A commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
