Job description
Position: 3rd Line Support Engineer
Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
Salary: 35,000- 45,000 DOE
As a 3rd Line Support Engineer, you will be the escalation point for complex technical problems that 1st and 2nd line support teams cannot resolve. You'll work closely with infrastructure, development, and network teams to troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix critical issues across multiple platforms and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide second and third-line IT support, acting as part of the contact team for internal queries, incidents, user requests, and problem resolution. This includes telephone, remote, and deskside support.
• Serve as an effective point of contact for Internal IT, resolving issues, escalating internally, or referring to third parties as appropriate.
• Experience with cloud environments such as Microsoft Cloud and Azure is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills are essential for this support role.
• Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
• Configure and manage network devices, including routers and switches, ensuring stable and secure network performance.
• Liaise with senior IT team members to escalate issues, recurring problems, or concerns within the IT areas.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of IT plans to support business growth while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of hardware, software, and systems.
• Typically spend four days per week at the main office location and one day per week at a secondary office location, with some flexibility based on workload.
• Travel to remote offices as required.
• Complete projects with guidance from senior colleagues.

Required Skills & Experience:
• Experience with Microsoft Cloud and Azure, plus excellent communication skills are essential.
• Proven experience in a 3rd line support or similar senior technical role
• Solid hands-on experience with network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

We are currently seeking an experienced SR163 Site Manager to lead the delivery of a GIS Substation Extension Project based on-site in South Wales. This is a critical role requiring a highly competent individual with current SR163 nomination and a strong background in managing National Grid projects.
📍 Location:
• South Wales (site-based)
🛠️ Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all site activities in accordance with National Grid standards and project specifications.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
• Manage temporary works and ensure safe systems of work are implemented.
• Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
âś… Essential Qualifications & Training:
Candidates must hold current SR163 nomination and the following certifications as a minimum:
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
• National Grid Person
• Competent Person - NSI6 & NSI8
• Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator
• HSG47 - Avoiding Danger from Underground Services (2-day course)
• 3-Day First Aid Certification
đź’Ľ Contracting Details:
• Engagement Type: CIS or Umbrella PAYE only
• Rate: Minimum £550/day
đź§ Ideal Candidate:
• Proven experience managing substation or similar HV projects.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive performance.
• Thorough understanding of National Grid procedures and safety protocols.
