Client Engagement Lead – Southern Region
Our Customer and Markets team focuses on the heart of our business – our clients. We provide leadership, advice and support to all levels of our organisation on best practice business development strategies and client engagement.

We are looking for a Client Engagement Lead to join our Clients & Markets team. Reporting to the Regional BD Team Leader, you’ll work closely with the Southern Regional Manager, Client Leaders, Market Leaders, and Client Teams, as well as our wider Marketing and Business Development colleagues across New Zealand and Australia. It’s a team that works hard while staying true to our values of partnership, tenacity, enjoyment, and care.
A key focus of this role is leading client engagement best practice. You will be a confident presenter, facilitator, and coach whom our people can rely on as a credible source of guidance and support. You will also take responsibility for managing strategic pursuits and bids, including the development and review of client‑focused content and the coordination of multi‑disciplinary teams. Your proactive approach and strong commercial acumen will position you as a trusted advisor to the Regional Manager and Southern Leadership Team.
Based in our Christchurch office, this role will add strategic value across the multiple geographies in which our Southern business operates, including Dunedin, Queenstown and Central Otago. You’ll lead initiatives and activities that elevate our market presence, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued success of our South Island business.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Client Engagement or Business Development professional who is ready for their next challenge. The successful candidate will bring the following experience and attributes:
Be tenacious, confident, and a collaborative team player with a positive and proactive approach
Strong commercial understanding of private‑sector business
Exceptional facilitation and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to drive growth and deliver our market strategies through regional‑level planning
Be up to date with market trends and proactively seek insights to keep the business informed
Experience within professional services and/or the engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors
Consistently delivers work on time and organises tasks effectively to support regional needs
A strong understanding of the client perspective
Ability to build rapport and credibility with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
Experience applying the client voice to shape business activity, improve engagement approaches, and inform growth strategies
