The opportunity
The selected candidate will:
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance
Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Your key responsibilities
Implement and maintain database code in the form of stored procedures, scripts, queries, views, triggers, etc.
Work closely with the Development team to implement effective and maintainable database coding practices that form an architectural foundation.
Work with front end developers to define simple yet powerful APIs.
Work with DBAs to ensure efficiency of database code, integrity of data structures and quality of data content.
Work with product managers to ensure database code meets requirements.
Work with DBAs and data analysts to ensure database code is accurately documented.
Participate as a member in Agile teams, and work with other team members to review user stories, estimate effort to build functionality supporting user stories, and participate in sprint reviews
Develops Migration scripts and has knowledge of creating functions, triggers etc
Pro-active remediation of database operational problems.
On-going support of applications
Gain a deep understanding of products, services and key business processes
Builds trusted relationships with internal and external business and client leaders to gain a deep understanding of products, services and key business
Skills and attributes for success
Handles Query tuning and preventative maintenance.
Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
To qualify for the role you must have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field preferred
6 to 10 years of relevant work experience as Database Administrator
Programming Language skill - SQL and T-SQL
PostgreSQL Server Administration experience
Experience in regular maintenance on databases (e.g., Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving).
Experience in query tuning and schema refinement
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization
Experience in data modelling technics
Experience in data profiling
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Experience in creating procedures and functions
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
