Job Description
Design and oversee the outcomes of health services and programs to address data gaps relevant to advancing recovery and RTW.
Bring subject matter expertise to ensure high quality work produced through health economics modeling, analysis, and data with responsibility for system solutions that support program evaluation infrastructure and inform return on investment.
Systematically reviews and critically evaluates economic literature for health technologies, including clinical benefits, efficiency, effectiveness and patient centeredness, to support recommendations concerning the funding of the technologies.
Act as a source of expert advice to internal clients across the organization on the most appropriate approach to spend and savings data collection, analysis and health services outcomes analysis.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Design, implementation and adaptation of health economic models or studies to assist in determining value and return on investment, specific to WSIB health services and programs. The activities may include:
Systematic review of the literature including comparative analysis of other jurisdictions or organizations
Development of study design and sampling strategies
Assisting with the production of accurate and timely data/reports including the development of data creation and analytic plans; data interpretation and presentation; and the development of procedures for data validation
Program or service evaluation and Return on Investment analysis
Perform gap analysis on new emerging technologies and identify adjacent opportunities and execution plans
2. Stakeholder management activities:
Engage actively with and/or provide consultation services to stakeholder communities and organizations on research feasibility, design, methodology, availability of data and interpretation of findings;
Interface with internal and external stakeholders and partners in support of the understanding clinical outcomes of WSIB health service programs
Facilitate the uptake of knowledge by Operations staff and leadership through the presentation of findings, education sessions, and one-on-one interactions as required
3. Participate in the enhancement of the Health Services division to access, analyze and report data and information
Build queries and/or write programs to extract and compile data using Cognos and other software tools, such as Access, Excel, SAS or R, VBA or Python to merge and analyze data from various sources in order to conduct business and statistical analysis
Create comprehensive analytic products and professional reports for use by the health services division more broadly across the WSIB
Collaborate with other business areas, such as CBIA and IT, to support analytic solutions and reports related to health services
Work with Communications to finalize written and graphic formats and to create report dissemination plans; Interface with internal and external stakeholders in support of the project such as expert panels, committees and team meetings;
Carry out process reengineering in order to streamline business reporting activities and ensure data quality
4. General Project Management which may include:
Monitoring project timelines, risks and deliverables in collaboration with other team members;
Liaising with the Finance, Privacy and Compliance, and Procurement departments
5. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
