Your Opportunity:
Our team is seeking an Indigenous Clinical Supervisor to support the Indigenous Support Line, which is a provincial telephone support service available to Indigenous peoples in Alberta. This position is accountable for overseeing the safe, effective and appropriate delivery of the Helpline service. This role supports the Indigenous listeners (Mental Health Therapists) who are supporting Indigenous peoples in Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 and Metis Nations of Alberta and Metis Settlements. The Contact Centre Coordinator (i.e., Clinical Supervisor within the HSAA contract) provides immediate consultation and supervision to on-shift listeners, such as providing clinical consultation, shift debriefing, and assisting with clinical decision making and problem solving. This position is responsible for immediate clinical support, day-to-day problem solving related to staffing, technology, and business processes. To thrive in this role, you will leverage your understanding of Indigenous communities across the province and utilize resources available to respond to callers needs using culturally safe, strength-based approaches. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site to foster effective team collaboration and deliver optimal health link services. Required competencies include cultural safety and anti-racist practices, knowledge of Indigenous histories, trauma-informed practice, and clinical skills strong technical skills are required and comfort using multiple electronic platforms. You will collaborate with AHS' Indigenous Wellness Core teams to ensure consistency and alignment of Indigenous cultural safety orientation. Position can be out of Calgary or Edmonton.
Description:
As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology or Social Work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with the applicable regulatory college. A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.
Additional Required Qualifications:
As a bona fide occupational requirement, and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered. We encourage Indigenous candidates to self- identify. Minimum 3-5 years of direct clinical experience in working with Indigenous communities and/or organizations in a professional capacity. 1-3 years demonstrated formal clinical supervisory experience. Advanced skills in assessment and intervention for individuals of all ages with addiction and mental health concerns, including crisis intervention skills. Demonstrated leadership and teaching skills. Good understanding of the geographical challenges in certain services such mental health resources, internet and phone. Strong working knowledge of the Indigenous services and supports across the health system across the province and outside and the ability to locate resources that may be useful. Knowledge of and experience with Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racist competencies and practices. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment and from a Two-Eyed Seeing approach. Experience working from relationship-based, harm reduction, strengths based, and trauma-informed approaches. Advanced computer skills essential, including working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 applications, Genesys (computer-based phone software); Echo Access (teletriage clinical assessment software and protocols). and the ability to learn and support staff using multiple electronic platforms concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to speak or understand any of the Indigenous languages spoken within the territories of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 or the Metis Settlements of Alberta. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024.
