Job Description
The Cortex development cycle is fast-paced and agile, requiring high attention to detail to ensure stable and reliable change management. The Cloud Database Administrator is a key contributor to stability in this environment through the daily monitoring of changes being made to databases and tight coordination with the development team leads and the QA teams. This position reports to the Director of Cloud Engineering and will partner with DBAs, application developers, and vendors on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
• Create and maintain database environments supporting the software development life cycle
• Analyze database performance and implement changes to improve performance
• Configure servers to meet recommended industry standards in an Azure environment
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
• Deploy solutions following documented change control procedures
• Enhance database schema to support data security policies using appropriate database encryption, access management and other techniques to protect sensitive data
• Implement and support solutions to ensure high availability and data recovery with minimal data loss
• Automate processes via SQL jobs, PowerShell, Python scripts, etc.
• Write complex Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions (UDFs) and Views
• Perform peer code reviews and have your work peer-reviewed by data team members
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Ability to work within a team environment and build relationships within IT and the business
• Assumes responsibility and takes initiative to achieve desired results
• 5+ years designing and developing data solutions in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
• 5+ years of experience managing SQL Server database environments
• 1+ year experience managing Azure Database environments (PAAS, IAAS)
• Expert at monitoring and improving database performance using SQL dynamic management
• views, SQL Profiler, extended events or third-party tools
• Expert in analyzing execution plans, understanding indexes and statistics
• Understanding of Azure DevOps build and release pipelines to support and troubleshoot automated deployments
• 2+ years of experience configuring and deploying SSIS packages, SSRS Power BI Reports
• Exposure to NoSQL databases. MongoDB preferred
• Experience with Azure ADF provisioning and support preferred.
• Professional experience in Lending or Financial Services is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
