Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring respectful and personalized care.
Monitor residents’ health by observing patient behavior, recording vital signs, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.
Support residents during social activities and facilitate engagement to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to prevent injury during transfers.
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning resident areas and common spaces.
Follow established care plans diligently while documenting observations and interventions for ongoing resident support.
Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, and family members to deliver comprehensive care aligned with each resident’s needs.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience in senior care or long-term care settings such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or private one-one-one care. Experience working specifically with memory care residents or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly valued. Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care strategies, mental health patients, observation techniques, medication reminders, and vital signs monitoring is essential. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance and hospice or home health care is a plus. Candidates with group home experience or working with individuals with autism or disabilities will find this role especially fitting. A background in nursing (LPN) or social work enhances your ability to deliver empathetic support tailored to each resident’s unique situation.
