Full job description
As a Collections Officer you are the first point of contact for customers with overdrawn or overdue accounts. You negotiate solutions and arrangements to assist our customers to bring their accounts up to date.
Progressing the accounts through the collection’s lifecycle is an important task of this role additionally making recommendations for recovery action if indicated, you take appropriate steps to ensure all processes and actions are compliant with the relevant legislation and guidelines.
This is a 6-month max term contract, offering you the flexibility to work 2 days a week from home.
You’ll make an impact by:
Reviewing and actioning your assigned accounts to ensure all processes and actions are compliant with the relevant legislation and guidelines.
Identifying hardship triggers and referring customers for a discussion with the Financial Assistance Team where indicated.
Regularly contacting and negotiating solutions with customers with diplomacy and compassion.
Actioning responses to Comprehensive Credit Reporting files from Credit Reporting Bodies.
Do things differently with us
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Up to 3 years’ experience in collections for a bank or other consumer lender.
Sound knowledge of retail financial services, including knowledge of relevant principles and legislation (Privacy Act, NCCP, Bankruptcy Act, Debt Collection Guidelines).
Previous experience managing accounts with arrears 90+ days is advantageous.
Proven ability to adapt to and manage work within multiple computer platforms.
Ability to listen and communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
An ability to confidently manage customer dissatisfaction and provide actionable solutions in challenging circumstances.
