ABOUT THE ROLE
VMG Health is hiring a Compliance Auditor to review documentation and coding for professional services, project management, and report writing for the CCOE team. The role includes providing education and training to the audit team and providers. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with the audit team to deliver client projects on time and meet productivity standards. Access medical records from clients’ EMR systems.
• Analyze medical records for content and documentation requirements.
• Assign diagnostic codes and abstract patient information per ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines.
• Record audit results using the audit reporting tool and prepare reports for QA and client submission. Develop audit result reports and corrective action plans.
• Conduct training sessions for external clients. Educate providers on coding, documentation, and compliance. • Assist in defining project scope and objectives with stakeholders.
• Review and correct QA audit reports.
• Stay updated on regulatory coding and compliance changes. Maintain professional competence in coding auditing principles and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Minimum Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of CPT and ICD-10 medical coding and auditing experience, including abstracting information from patient charts.
License/Certifications:
• Coding Credentials: AHIMA - Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) or AAPC – CPC required. CPMA Certification required.
• AACP - CPC-I Certified Professional Coding Instructor -or- AACP - CPC-I Certified Professional Coding Instructor -or- CHCA Certification from AHCAE (Association of Health Care Auditors and Educators), preferred but not required.
Knowledge & Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant technology.
• Consulting experience preferred.
• Skilled in one-on-one and group provider education and training.
• Able to work independently with high productivity.
• Strong time management and ability to prioritize in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Professional and confident communication in various settings.
• Strong organization, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Focus on quality management, critical thinking, self-initiative, and self-direction.
