Summary/Objective:

The Comptroller is appointed by the Chief Financial Officer (with the approval of the President of the College) and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The appointee to this position will have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree; knowledge of, and experience with, bookkeeping and principles of financial management; good interpersonal skills; and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrators.

Essential Functions:

Managing the College’s books and records in NetSuite.
o Managing general ledgers and daily journal entries

o Bank reconciliations

o Account reconciliations

o Credit card terminal reconciliation and point of contact for all merchant disputes.

Working with the College’s outside auditors and the Chief Financial Officer to prepare annual financial statements.
Coordinating with the Financial Aid office to ensure that financial aid awards are posted accurately and promptly to students’ accounts.
Managing drawdowns and returns of financial aid funds from and to the various sources of such aid.
Training other staff in the Finance Office and managing their work in providing services to students, including:
o Receiving and recording payments from students in the Anthology system.

o Crediting student accounts with financial aid awards when properly notified by Student Services.

o Submitting requests for student refund checks to the Chief Financial Officer.

o Making tuition refunds in line with policy when written notification is received from Student Services of a student’s withdrawal from the College.

o Notifying the Chief Financial Officer and Student Services of overdue accounts during the first week of each semester.

o Preparing a daily reconciliation of tuition payments received, with Anthology figures and bank deposits, and printing daily backups for the files.

o Preparing a monthly reconciliation of grants disbursed and awarded to students on Anthology.

o Collect authorization from students who request that refunds be applied towards future tuition payments.

o Preparing a quarterly receivable aging report analysis to aid in reporting bad debts, per policy.

o Creating and maintaining payment plans for students.

o Maintaining a schedule of overdue student accounts.

Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or the President.
Preparing and submission of 1098Ts.
1099 and maintaining vendor profiles and accurate mapping.
Payroll processes; entering the didactic and clinical coordinator schedules for biweekly payrolls. Review all deductions for accuracy and coordinating with HR on any changes.
Managing the PTO accumulation of all covered employees; assuring accruals are properly recorded monthly for covered employees.
Managing the retirement funds bi-weekly submission and updating any changes required for payroll.
Provide relief for HR functions that include but are not limited to onboarding, employee profile changes and updates.
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required.
Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication, problem-solving, coaching, organizational, and presentation skills.
Ability to demonstrate competitive nature, self-direction, motivation, and a sense of urgency to achieve goals.
Strong and inspirational communication skills, vibrant personality, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills are essential.
Demonstrated evidence of sales orientation, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Possess an abundance of enthusiasm and maintain a positive disposition.
Ability to travel daily and work weekends and evenings.
Computer proficiency in NetSuite, MS Office and Outlook required.
Higher Education experience required.
