Computer Science Teacher - MYP / DP
Job Summary
The Computer Science Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality instruction in Computer Science to students in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. The teacher will create a positive and challenging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement lesson plans and assessments that align with the IB curriculum standards and objectives for MYP and DP Computer Science courses.
• Teach a range of topics in Computer Science, including programming, algorithms, data structures, computer systems, networks, databases, and software development methodologies.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students and differentiate instruction based on their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their work and progress, and encourage them to reflect on their learning and set goals for improvement.
• Collaborate with other teachers, coordinators, and administrators to ensure coherence and continuity across the curriculum and to support interdisciplinary learning.
• Use technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning, including online platforms, software tools, simulations, and other digital resources.
• Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that respects diversity, promotes equity, and upholds ethical and responsible use of technology.
• Participate in professional development activities, including IB training, conferences, workshops, and peer learning communities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications And Skills
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience in Computer Science, preferably in an IB or international school context.
• Strong knowledge and skills in programming languages, computer systems, networks, and software development tools.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to student-cantered, inquiry-based, and holistic approaches to learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
• Familiarity with the IB programmes and assessment frameworks, and willingness to embrace the IB philosophy and mission.
