About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will take ownership of the full accounting cycle, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting while supporting operational decision-making. This role requires a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a business that blends project-based work, service delivery, and light assembly.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and oversee full-cycle financial statements across multiple entities
Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Provide oversight of:
Payroll (including acting as backup when required)
Accounts Payable
Reception / administrative support functions
Support job costing processes, including analysis and reporting on project performance
Apply appropriate revenue recognition methodologies, particularly in a construction/project environment (fixed price and cost-plus contracts)
Monitor and report on inventory and related controls
Provide insight into equipment utilization and efficiency within a service-oriented business
Strengthen internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems
Partner with operations to support both maintenance and greenfield projects
Qualifications & Experience
Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
Proven experience in a hands-on Controller or senior accounting role
Background in construction, project-based, or similar industries, with strong understanding of revenue recognition
Demonstrated experience with:
Job costing
Multi-entity structures
Inventory accounting
Exposure to service-based operations, including equipment utilization metrics
Strong systems experience, including mid-market (Tier 2) ERP systems
Comfortable operating in an environment that requires both strategic thinking and day-to-day execution
