About us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately +0 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.


About the role

The Court Operations Officer plays a critical role in providing operational support to the local Specialist Family Violence Court (SFVC) team within the MCV family violence jurisdiction including contributing towards projects and process improvements that support the operations of the court, its judiciary and its workforce. To do this, you will be required to perform the following (but not limited to):

; Develop, implement, and coordinate efficient operational and administrative processes including document tracking and control and proactively create and implement new systems to streamline processes as required.
; Liaise with the judiciary, external organisations, groups and individuals that interface with the court.
; Operate relevant computer systems, including case-management systems such as Courtlink and other technologies such as PowerApps ensuring information is captured accurately.
; Under direction of SFVC Manager and FV Registrar, facilitate referrals to court-based support services and community-based service providers attending the court.
; In conjunction with specialist MCV staff, help facilitate and administer pre-court engagement functions.
; Provide advice and support in the application of organisation policies and procedures in consultation with relevant specialist teams within MCV.
; Draft and prepare briefings and formal communications relating to the operational functioning of the court, ensuring compliance with organisational and best practice requirements.
