Where you’ll be working: All mental health in-patient wards – Waikato Hospital

The details: Permanent Full time – 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday





In our mental health services, we believe in the transformative power of the arts to promote holistic well-being. We are seeking a creative, passionate and versatile facilitator who has experience working with a variety of artistic mediums to join our teams.





Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

In this role, you will create and implement innovative arts-based programs that foster mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness.

The facilitator will work across all areas of The Henry Rongomau Bennett centre, including forensic wards and our older persons ward which is located in the OPR building.



Key responsibilities of the role:

Plan, develop and deliver creative art activities as part of an arts programme.
Collaborate with mental health professionals to integrate therapeutic elements into the programme.
To work in a trauma-informed way to foster self-discovery and healing through creative expression.
Utilise art as a tool to encourage community building and positive identity development for participants.
Foster relationships with local artists, organizations, and community members to enhance program offerings.
To engage in art projects across the service that enhance the in-patient environments and promote tāngata whaiora
Maintain records of participant progress and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to measure the impact and drive program improvement.
Create an inclusive, safe environment that respects and celebrates diversity.

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

Experience in facilitating arts or recreation based projects in a mental healthcare setting.
Experience working with a variety of artistic mediums including indigenous art.

A demonstrated passion for making a difference to the lives of our tangata whaiora and whanau.
Creativity, versatility, motivation and drive.
A high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
