The Credit Risk Analyst plays a critical role in protecting revenue and managing financial risk across Optus’s Enterprise and Mid‑Market customer segments. Reporting to the Credit Risk Operations Manager, this role is responsible for assessing credit applications for new and existing customers, including complex, high‑value contracts. Through informed credit decision‑making, the role directly influences Optus’s financial outcomes while supporting sustainable customer growth.

Working closely with Sales, Collections, Billing, Fraud Risk, and Commercial teams, the Credit Risk Analyst conducts detailed risk assessments using internal systems, external credit data, and financial documentation. This role is suited to a commercially astute analyst with strong investigative capability, a solid understanding of credit and regulatory frameworks, and the ability to operate confidently in a fast‑paced, enterprise environment where accuracy, judgement, and collaboration are critical.

What You will Do

Deliver credit assessments within agreed SLAs across all product types and sales channels, ensuring timely support to the business.
Review and validate all application documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and full PCI compliance.
Clearly communicate credit decisions, decline rationales, and requests for additional information to sales channels in a constructive and customer‑focused manner.
Proactively identify and escalate potential fraudulent applications to Fraud Risk Operations for investigation.
Analyse application data to identify emerging trends and recommend improvements to credit policies and procedures.
Partner with the Credit Risk Operations Manager to review weekly and monthly application reporting, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, systems, and governance standards.

What makes you perfect for the role?

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a credit assessment or credit risk environment, preferably within Telecommunications or a similar regulated industry.
Strong capability in credit risk analysis, credit management practices, and interpreting credit risk reports to make sound, defensible decisions.
Demonstrated understanding of fraud and credit risk factors, trends, and mitigation strategies, with the ability to escalate concerns appropriately.
Proven decision‑making and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to think laterally and operate effectively under pressure.
Highly effective communicator and collaborator, with excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to work across teams and stakeholder levels.
Self‑motivated, adaptable, and ethical professional with strong personal integrity, commitment to outcomes, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/call‑centre environments.
